Our new bar and lounge Misdemeanor, conveniently located in the lobby of NU Hotel Brooklyn, is one of the largest sidewalk cafes in Downtown Brooklyn. With large windows and the faint bustle of our boutique hotel lobby, the cafe has an airy feel that can only be described as the perfect mix of urban cool and laid back — it feels like the place to be, without trying too hard. And the food and drink will delight! Serving all-day cocktails and light tapas, our menus were created by two of the biggest names in the New York restaurant scene.
MILOS ZICA
When NU Hotel first opened in 2008, Milos Zica, Master Mixologist and Principal Bartender at New York’s Employees Only, created an exciting menu for us. Back then, we had a little bar hidden behind the front desk. Now, with our newly designed lobby bar and lounge, Milos’s concoctions have taken center stage! Our cocktail menu rotates seasonally and Milos’ varied and original cocktail mixings are made strictly with the freshest ingredients and finest liquors. If Milos looks familiar to you, perhaps you saw him on television’s ”On The Rocks” a talent search for America’s top bartender, where he competed and placed 2nd on the hit show. Milos has also published his recipes in Condé Nast and in the cocktail book, “Speakeasy.”
JEHANGIR MEHTA
One of the most beloved chefs in NYC, Jehangir Mehta is the owner of Lower East Side’s Graffiti and Tribeca’s Mehtaphor, located at the Duane Street Hotel. So when we had the chance to share the talents of Chef Mehta with our sister property Duane Street Hotel, we jumped on it! Chef Mehta has designed the delicious tapas menu with his usual thoughtfulness, generosity, and creativity. You might know Chef Mehta from his celebrity appearances on Food Network shows, such as “Iron Chef America,” “The Next Iron Chef,” and, most recently, “Next Iron Chef: Redemption.” The menu at our café features Bacon Onion Pizza, the best pork belly buns in Brooklyn, and other delicious offerings with elements of Indian cooking.
